WILLIAM ALEXANDER (COACH)

'William Alexander' was the third head football coach at Georgia Tech. Alexander graduated from Tech in 1912 as valedictorian of his class.[1] Alexander succeeded John Heisman as the head coach in April 1920. The ''Technique'' said of him:
As a new coach, he led Georgia Tech to three SIAA titles (1920, 1921, 1922) and its second national championship in 1928. In 1944 he retired and was succeeded by one of his assistants, Bobby Dodd.
The Alexander Memorial Coliseum is named after him.
