WILLIAM KING-NOEL, 1ST EARL OF LOVELACE
'William King-Noel, 1st Earl of Lovelace', FRS (1805-1893) was an English nobleman and scientist.
He became the 8th Baron King in 1833. He was created Earl of Lovelace and Viscount Ockham in 1838, and appointed Lord Lieutenant of Surrey in 1840. He was the husband of Augusta Ada (Byron) King, Countess of Lovelace, the only legitimate daughter of poet Lord Byron, who is said to have been the first computer programmer. They had two sons:

★ Lady Annabella, later 15th Baroness Wentworth (1837-1917)
★ Ralph Gordon, styled Viscount Ockham, later 2nd Earl of Lovelace (1839-1906)
After his wife died in 1852, Lord Lovelace married Jane Jenkins and they had one son, Lionel Fortescue, later 3rd Earl of Lovelace (1865-1929)
On 25 November 1841, he was admitted a Fellow of the Royal Society.[1] In 1860, he adopted the additional surname of Noel.
