St. Mark's Church in Wolfsberg
'Wolfsberg' (Slovenian: Volšperk) is the capital of the
Lavant Valley (German: ''Lavanttal'') region of
Carinthia, in southern
Austria.
Wolfsberg had a population of 25,301 inhabitants in 2001, the date of the most recent Austrian survey. A more recent estimate is 25,369.
Wolfsberg was first mentioned in
1007 and acquired town rights in
1331 It is the birthplace of the Austrian General
Charles Flynn, who served under Empress
Maria Theresa in the
Seven Years' War.
