WOMEN'S ONE-DAY INTERNATIONAL CRICKET
(Redirected from Women\'s ODI)
'Women's one-day international cricket' is the short form of women's international cricket. Matches generally last for 50 overs, the same as in the men's game. The first women's ODIs were played in 1973, as part of the first Women's World Cup which was held in England. The first ever ODI saw the hosts beat an International XI.
In 2006, the ICC announced that only the top 10 ranked women's sides would have Test and ODI status. Hence the following teams have that status:
★ Australia
★ England
★ India
★ Ireland
★ New Zealand
★ Netherlands
★ Pakistan
★ South Africa
★ Sri Lanka
★ West Indies
The following three teams have also played ODIs, but currently do not have ODI status, although they may qualify to regain that status in future.
★ Denmark
★ Japan
★ Scotland
There are also four other teams which once had ODI status, but no longer play such games. Three appeared only in the 1973 Women's World Cup. The four former ODI teams are:
★ International XI (1973-1981/82)
★ Jamaica (1973 only)
★ Trinidad & Tobago (1973 only)
★ Young England (1973 only)
★ Highest individual innings: 229 by Belinda Clark for Australia v Denmark at Mumbai, 1997/98
★ Best bowling: 7-4 by Sajjida Shah for Pakistan v Japan at Amsterdam, 2003
