WOODSTOCK SCHOOL
'Woodstock School', a co-educational boarding school, is located in Landour, a small hill station contiguous with Mussoorie, (Uttarakhand State, India).
Woodstock is among the more well-known boarding schools of the Indian Subcontinent, especially among those with significant numbers of expatriate students and teachers. (Others are the Kodaikanal International School and the Hebron School, Ooty, both in South India). The school has a campus spread over an area of about 250 acres, and is located in a forest region with a variety of flora including pine, rhododendron, and oak. The terrain of the campus has an altitudinal range of 350 meters from its lowest point to the highest point.
Classes at Woodstock begin from ECP (Early Childhood Program) and follow up to the 12th grade.

History
The school traces its origin to 1854, when a group of English ladies were enlisted by British officers and American missionaries to provide a Protestant education for girls.
During the school's 150 year history, Woodstock has achieved several milestones, including:
★ 1901 - The school was elevated to the status of a college.
★ 1922 - School becomes co-educational, interdenominational and multinational. Day students and boarders are part of the student body.
★ 1959 - It became the third High School outside the North America, and the first in Asia, to receive the US accreditation conferred on it through the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools.
★ 1990 - The Association of Indian Universities accepts the Woodstock diploma as an equivalent to the Indian school leaving examination.
★ 2002 - Woodstock is ranked as the #2 residential school in India by Outlook Magazine.[1]
Academics
Woodstock provides several options for students graduating from the school. As the school is accredited by Middle States, the standard Woodstock diploma is equivalent to that of a US High School Diploma. The school is a testing center for College Board exams, including the SAT and Advanced Placement tests, and provides instruction in preparation for the AP exams. Additionally, IGCSE exams and prep are offered at Woodstock at Grade 10. The school also prepares students for continuing education in India with the Woodstock Indian Marksheet which is accepted by the Association of Indian Universities as an equivalent to the 10+2 stage in the Indian education system.[2]
Woodstock is a partner along with Kodaikanal International School in the Studies Abroad for a Global Education (SAGE) program, which encourages students from countries around the world to spend some time at Woodstock or Kodai studying in an effort to better understand the world and different cultures. (See: SAGE Program website)
The school is currently (Spring 2007) in a search process for a new principal after Mr. David Jeffery resigned from the post. While the current search deadline for a new principal has been extended to June 2008, Mrs. Kaye Aoki has been appointed as the interim principal. The Board of Directors has retained the services of the Council of International Schools for the recruitment effort.
