'Xlibris' is a Philadelphia-based self-publishing and on-demand printing services provider. As a vanity press^{[1] [2]}. In December 1997, he and his wife became a part of Xlibris as venture capitalists. Later Xlibris formed a partnership with Random House.
Xlibris uses multiple printers depending on the requirements of each manuscript.
People who write family histories often pay for publication through Xlibris, since family histories have no market potential outside a particular family, often selling fewer than ten copies. Thus, the legitimate major commercial presses have no interest in publishing family histories.
