The Young Scot Logo

'Young Scot' is the national youth information and citizenship agency for Scotland. It provides young people between the ages of 12 and 26 with a mixture of information, ideas and incentives to help them become confident and active citizens. It also helps young people to play a part in their community, and make the most of their free time and learning.
It does this in a variety of formats, including books, magazines, online, phone, etc, so young people can access information in a way they are comfortable with.

The 'Young Scot website, www.youngscot.org', is the national youth information site for Scotland. The site's 2,500+ pages are full of up-to-the-minute information on youth-related news and issues, as well as useful links, competitions, discussion boards, discounts, music and cinema reviews and much, much more. The website uses cutting-edge functionality and features 32 "sub-sites", one for every local authority in Scotland. These local pages have local information written for and by young people, who have been trained in web journalism and how to add articles to the site through their Dialogue Youth initiative.
The 'Young Scot/NEC card' can be used to obtain great discounts locally, nationally, and internationally - valid in over 1,800 outlets in Scotland and at over 200,000 places in 42 European countries. The Young Scot card can help save money on fashion and entertainment, but it can also help young people to take advantage of other opportunities at a cheaper price – for example on cultural excursions and artistic outings. Not only that, but in many local authorities the Young Scot/NEC card can be used to give young people access to libraries, cheaper leisure facilities, cashless catering at school and even online voting. Most Young Scot cards now also have the PASS hologram which means they can be used to prove a young person's age.
Young Scot also runs the 'Young Scot InfoLine', a free and comprehensive phone line which can answer enquiries on a whole range of topics. Young people can call on 0808 801 0338 (Mon - Fri 10am to 6pm) for information on any topic, from finance and health issues to the arts, and can also check out www.youngscot.org/infoline, where they will find information and downloadable factsheets on several topics, including managing their money, finding a place to live and health concerns.
Young Scot is part of the Euro 26 network.
