 | Formula Challenge Japan 2007 - Igor Sushko The overview of the 2007 season in Formula Challenge Japan. Igor Sushko drove in the #1 H.I.S. Travel-sponsored car. FCJ, as it is called in Japan, is a selective development series with 27 drivers sponsored by Nissan, Toyota, and Honda in order to produce new racing talent in Japan. The series imposes an age limit and the average age in 2007 was 21. The manufacturers pay for further development of successful drivers in series such as Formula Renault, Formula 3, Super GT GT300 and GT500. The end-goal is to produce Formula One (F1) drivers from Japan. It is the first time in history that a series of this caliber has been created in part with three separate automotive manufacturers. Each manufacturer also contracts top factory drivers in Japan as advisers to the students. Igor Sushko's advisers in 2007 were Tetsuya Tanaka 田中哲也 and Masami Kageyama 影山正美, both renown NISMO drivers.
