Sheraton Chicago Hotel & Towers is offering a new check-in option.

Thanks to general manager, Rick Ueno, the hotel has become known for its special free vacation option: a check-in program for those with a PDA or BlackBerry. Ueno was once himself a BlackBerry addict and one day quit cold turkey. Today, he urges others to try the same thing and offers tips to visitors in his Chicago hotel.

The BlackBerry Check-In Program

Using a BlackberryThe BlackBerry Check-In Program allows travellers to lock up their PDA's or BlackBerries while on vacation or attending business meetings and conferences at the hotel. It allows travellers to better focus on their business partners or families while they're away - rather than emails and day to day work demands.

The official Check-In Program has been in effect for one year now and Sheraton Chicago has announced another initiative to help those "suffering" from BlackBerry addiction.

The BlackBerry Detox Challenge

This challenge or initiative is meant to help BlackBerry addicts to go into "detox" by locking away their PDA or BlackBerry for 48 hours. Those who succeed receive complimentary return three-night stay and dinner for two at the hotel's Shula Steak House.

The next group of those seeking to participate in the challenge from now until March 15, 2008 are eligible for a complimentary upgrade during their stay. Those who check-in their BlackBerries are given a map to encourage them to travel, see and enjoy Chicago with their friends and families - rather than read emails on their devices.
