Tourists who want to see the new and vibrant Russia need only stay at the Hotel Kempinski in Moscow.
Earlier in 2007, the Hotel Baltschug Kempinski announced that it had opened two new luxury suites. Both were designed by members of the British Royal Family, whose ancestry find them tied with Russia with Nicholas II, the last Emperor of Russia.
One, called the Princess Suite, is a three room suite of 600 square feet, and was designed by Her Royal Highness Princess Michael of Kent, a distant English relative of the late Russian Tsar. It is described as a tribute to traditional English tastes and value, and is both elegant and dignified in all its aspects. The biggest selling feature of the Princess Suite is the view - the suite looks out on Red Square, the famed Moscow Kremlin, and also gazes down on the Moskva River.
The second is a two bedroom suite, called the Linley Suite. It is furnished with grand Italian marble and custom-made hardwood furniture, with a living room fit for royality. A chandelier hangs in its bathroom to give it an extra taste of regality. The Linley Suite was designed by LINLEY in London: a company founded by Viscount Linley, the son of the late Princess Margaret and nephew of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
Viscount Linley, also known as David Armstrong-Jones, and professionally as David Linely, is the son of the late Princess Margaret, sister to the Queen - making him the nephew of the ruling monarch of the British Throne. He created LINLEY furniture design company which manufactures furniture, upholstery, and other interior design products.
Nicholas II of Russia (Nikolay Alexandrovich Romanov) is recognized as the last Emperor of Russia, the King of Poland, and the Grand Duke of Finland. The Tsar was on the Russian throne until 1917-the start of the Russian Communist Revolution. He ruled from 1894 until his forced abdication in 1917. He is also called Nicholas the Martyr due to the fact that he was executed by the communist government after he gave up the throne. Although most of the Russian Royal Family were killed in the revolution, many of his distant relatives number amongst members of the British Royal Family, including Linley and Princess Michael of Kent.
Hotel Baltschug Kempinski has provided upscale hospitality to tourists visiting Russia's capital for the past fifty years. Even during the communist era, the hotel was renowned for its attention to detail and its white glove service. The addition of the two royally designed suites will be of interest to tourists who crave Blue Blood accommodation and services on Red Square.
Of course, hotel accommodation at these suites comes at a high price. The Princess Suite rate starts at $280,000 RUB a night ($7,800 EUR or $11,602 CAD). That makes the Linley Suite a bargain at $213,000 RUB a night ($5,933 EUR or $8,823 CAD).
The hotel itself was built in the late 1800's beside the Moskva River. It was the first hotel in Russia's capital city to hold a Five Star Diamond rating in the listings of the reknowned hotel rating system: The Leading Hotels of the World.
