The Library Hotel in New York City is an interesting spin on small luxury boutique and "concept" hotels. It is located on Madison Avenue in the heart of midtown Manhattan, just seconds away from Grand Central Terminal, 3 blocks from Times Square, and of course, the New York City Public Library.
The name of the hotel already gives it away. The hotel is a 60 room hotel within a 10 floor building. Each of the 10 floors represents one of the ten classification categories of the Dewey Decimal Classification System. Each room on the floor represents a different section in the category and are designed with those themes in mind. The rooms include a library of books on the subject, as well as design, furniture and art which fit the theme. Library hotel holds more than 6,000 books, all of which were hand picked.
For example, the 3rd floor of Library Hotel represents the 300 Dewey Decimal Category: Social Sciences. The rooms include: law, money, world culture, economics, political science, and communication.
The 8th floor represents the 800 Dewey Decimal Category: Literature. The rooms on the Literature floor included the themes: mystery, fairy tales, dramatic literature, poetry, classic fiction, and erotic literature.
Packages are available or the Erotic Literature Room (8th floor, Literature) or the Love Room (11th floor, Philosophy) for romantic getaways. Each room comes with signature bathrobes, 100% Egyptian cotton linen, slippers, high speed internet, flat panel televisions, and complimentary bottles of water. The hotel is also littered with rooms and coves like the "Writers Den," the "Bookmarks Lounge," the "Reading Room," and the "Poetry Garden."
When booking, your rates include a smoke free environment, breakfast and evening wine and cheese gatherings in the Reading Room - a great chance to meet other book worms, concept hotel enthusiasts, literary geniuses, and appreciators of novelty.
A unique experience and surely you won't be disappointed. Great for ‘hot dates,' romantic getaways, librarians, book and literary lovers, and more!
