Selous Safari Tanzania Day 1 - Tanzania, Arusha Hotel, 1 night Arriving in Arusha, a bustling market town and gateway to the Parks of Northern Tanzania, you meet you guide at the Arusha Hotel. After a safari briefing and time to explore the local markets get together for a drink and dinner.Dinner Day 2 & 3 - Depart Arusha, Tarangire and 2 nights camping Lake Manyara Depart Arusha early and drive to Tarangire National Park (less than 2 hours away) for an extended morning game drive with picnic lunch. Eventually continue on to Lake Manyara National Park, arrive in the evening and your camp crew will have your tents erected with beds made up and there will be hot water for showers. Enjoy a delicious dinner by the campfire.Lake Manyara National Park is a small but very rewarding Park and is best known for its tree-climbing lions and an elephant population. There is a range of habitats and these attract a large number of mammal and bird species that are often seen against a stunning backdrop of the flamingo pink lake, or the 2000ft escarpment of the Rift Valley.All meals Day 4 & 5 – Ngorongoro Crater, 2 nights private campsite A long morning of game viewing followed by a picnic lunch and then the drive through the bustling town of Karatu where there is the opportunity to shop for curios. Arrive mid afternoon at your private campsite on the rim of Ngorongoro Crater. Head out for a guided walk in the forests that line the rim, keep an eye out for black & white colobus monkeys.Day 3 will be spent on an extended morning game viewing drive in Ngorongoro Crater - one of the natural wonders of the world. A large volcanic caldera it contains a huge variety of game and birds and is often referred to as a microcosm of Africa with its dramatic weather changes and varied terrains.All meals Day 6, 7 & 8 – Serengeti Plains, 3 nights private campsite Drive from Ngorongoro Crater to Serengeti National Park via Olduvai Gorge. It was here that Mary Leakey made her groundbreaking discovery of a hominid skull dating back 1.8 million years. Continue on to the great plains of the Serengeti beyond - depending on the number of stops to watch and photograph the animals and magnificent birds seen along the way, you will arrive in camp in the late afternoon.On day 6 & 7 spend a full day exploring the Park which is Tanzania’s largest and most famous. In this vast sanctuary there still exists the greatest and most spectacular concentration of game animals found anywhere in the world. The grassy savannah dominates the landscape and stretches away to infinity. The north of the park is more forested and its western borders rise progressively to within 8kms (5 miles) of Lake Victoria. The Serengeti is famous for both the wildebeest and zebra migration that annually crosses its plains and rivers, as well as for its huge lion population.All meals Day 9 – Return to Arusha Fly from the Serengeti to Arusha – it is a scenic flight over the highlands of Ngorongoro and the Rift Valley, the safari ends on arrival.Breakfast.
