Restaurant Week in Portsmouth, NH: A Top Town in America

Restaurant in PortsmouthRestaurant Week is a collaboration between the various restaurants in this city of 21,000 and the Greater Portsmouth Chamber of Commerce and will highlight the Portsmouth area as a culinary destination along with its well-known vibrant arts and cultural scene.     

Portsmouth’s dining scene is just part of its allure. The city, which was designated one of the 2008 Dozen Distinctive Destinations® by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, boasts 400 years of history, art and culture – including monthly Art ‘Round Town gallery walks, boutique shops, The Music Hall – an 1878 theatre designated an American Treasure for the Arts, the Portsmouth Harbour Trail and more. Restaurant Week Portsmouth will feature three-course prix fixe menus: $16.95 US per person for lunch and $29.95 US per person for dinner (does not include beverages, taxes or gratuity). Reservations are recommended, but not required. To book reservations, diners must contact the individual restaurant(s) of their choice.

Restaurant in PortsmouthRestaurant lovers will be tempted by so many different cuisines from tantalizing seafood, traditional Italian, to more eclectic ethnic choices from various parts of the world.  Participating restaurants include: Agavé Mexican Bistro Dos, Black Trumpet Bistro, Blue Mermaid Island Grill, Brazo, The Carriage House, The Dolphin Striker, The Dunaway Restaurant at Strawbery Banke, The Green Monkey, Harbor’s Edge at the Sheraton Harborside, Jumpin’ Jay’s Fish Café, The Library Restaurant – A Steak House, Pesce Blue, The Portsmouth Brewery, Portsmouth Gas Light Co., Radici, Ristorante Massimo, Rudi’s, and The Wellington Room.

Organizers are optimistic that Restaurant Week Portsmouth, which will repeat in March 2009, will become a bi-annual event, showcasing the area’s culinary draw.
