For stunning scenery and outdoor adventures galore, Aspen is hard to beat. So is the Limelight Lodge. The 126-room hotel, located in the heart of downtown Aspen, prides itself on luxe accommodations for a reasonable price.

Spend a few days at this hotel, and you’ll quickly realize how seriously it takes customer service. And not in an overbearing, in-your-face kind of way. Instead, the hotel staff is discreetly helpful. Let’s say, for example, you accidentally picked up the wrong pair of skis when heading back to the hotel. This is totally hypothetical, of course. I certainly would not do such a thing! Limelight’s ski concierge would track down your skis and switch ‘em out without you even noticing.

As for accommodations, everything about the hotel is contemporary and convenient. Guest rooms have high ceilings, marble and granite finishes, oversized closets, king-size beds, stylish furniture and generous windows that open to the fresh mountain air.

Two-bedroom suites kick it up a notch with full kitchens, dining rooms and private outdoor terraces. Then, there’s always the super posh penthouse.

And when you’re ready to venture outdoors, Limelight offers up a new way to experience the area’s mountains through its Inside Tracks program, which kicked off in early January and runs through April 1. It’s a stellar ski-ride service, and it’s not considered a lesson, which I found quite appealing. In other words, the instructor wasn’t watching and correcting my every move. Instead, I had the chance to follow in her ski tracks and perfect my technique on my own.

For overnight guests, it’s a complimentary guided tour around any of the four mountains that make up Aspen/Snowmass. It’s offered on Mondays and Fridays. And get this, if you were to pay for a similar guided tour, it would cost you 600 smackers a day.

Sadly, with ski season winding down, this is something you’ll want to check out next season. For now, consider a stellar summertime stay at Limelight. You’ll have access to nearby rivers and trails for rafting and biking excursions galore. Click here for a listing of events that will have you booking a ticket lickety split.

I can happily confirm, after my recent stay at Limelight, that this is a flat-out awesome hotel. And Aspen, no doubt, is worth a visit any time of the year.

If you go:

Call to book your Inside Tracks day in advance or ask about it when you check in. It’s a popular program!

Florida Film Festival Kicks Off in Orlando
The Florida Film Festival (April 5-14) is hands down one of my favorite events in Orlando. Of course, the selection of films is grand (this year there are 167 from 31 different countries), it’s somewhat likely you’ll rub shoulders with a celebrity or filmmaker, and there’s the...

Maui: Below the Surface

Maui: Below the Surface
It was a picture-perfect day off the shores of Maui’s Makena Beach as our group of six paddled an outrigger canoe through the calm waters. It had been about 10 minutes or so since we left shore, but already we had arrived at the perfect snorkeling spot. I was still putting on my mask and...

Skiing and snowboarding at Mont Tremblant
I’ve been to Quebec many times for a slew of adventures, including dog sledding, ziplining, offroading (in a Range Rover), snowshoeing and rafting. That said, I’ve never been there for sole purpose of hitting the slopes, until now. For this wintertime excursion, I made my way to...
