The Enzian, a unique indie-film theater and the location of the nationally recognized Florida Film Festival, is by far my favorite spot to catch a film. It is rare to find a theater without those oh-so-uncomfortable stadium seats and almost impossible to come upon one with a gourmet menu. So I always appreciate the Enzian’s strong stance on being different.
The one-screen theater is set up similar to a restaurant’s dining room. With four tiers of tables, every seat in the house has a great view and, better yet, you have your own personal arm chair. In other words, you can choose how close you sit to the person next to you!
Now, let’s talk about the food. The menu offerings are the dishes you would expect to see down the road at any restaurant in the Winter Park Village; it’s that good. Grab the hummus and pita appetizer to share with friends or go solo with the turkey burger topped with smoked gouda. The menu provides plenty of options to nibble on including tasty vegetarian dishes. Served right to the table, you get to enjoy the movie while you wait.
This is definitely a spot to enjoy year-round but you must plan to visit during the Florida Film Festival held every year in April. The festival brings an incredible selection of films (this year brought over 160), the change to rub shoulders with some celebrities (past attendees include Barry Levinson, Paul Newman, Anthony Bourdain, Christopher Walken, Cat Cora and Ed Burns) and countless special events including the opening night party with culinary all-stars from around Central Florida.

I’m a writer and a digital diva. In other words, when I’m not writing, I’m shooting photos or video. My favorite travel spots lately include Madrid, for its stunning architecture; Colorado, for its heart-pounding hikes and breath-taking scenery; and the Galapagos Islands, for its sea lions, whales and blue-footed boobies.

I am a huge fan of the Flower & Garden festival for a ton of reasons. For starters, it takes more than a year to concept, cultivate, design and install, utilizing about 24,000 cast members in the process. This year features 30 million blooms blanketing the park for the full 75 days...

Antique shopping is like a modern day treasure hunt. As I rummage through cluttered shelves filled with hidden gems and oddities, I cross my fingers for a 48-piece china set for $10 or antique costume jewelry for less than a new haircut. You just never know what you’re going to find. And...
