When you’re tearing down the slopes, it never hurts to be super fashionable. I also don’t mind wearing something that an athlete designed. So when I came across Oakley’s GB Favorite Insulated Pant, created by Gretchen Bleiler herself, I knew they’d be perfect.
She’s the world-class champ who rocks the snowboarding slopes and is also quite the fashionista. In the design she included pretty little rivets, dart stitch lines and faux jean-style pockets. When it comes to functionality, there’s knee articulation, breathable waterproofing and, my favorite, adjustable venting.
I’m happy to report, when I wore these pants in Mont Tremblant recently, and fell on my rear end dozens of times, the pants always stayed dry and repelled moisture quickly. And on my way to apres ski, I did not feel like a marshmallow. Even though they are super warm, they don’t make you look bloated. Plus, I unzipped the inner thigh vents to cool down and air out when indoors. If you need something more lightweight, check out the GB Favorite Shell Pant.
As always, I'm a big fan of pockets. I stored my chapstick in one front pocket and credit cards and phone in another. Overall, I was really pleased with the product's functionaliy and the fit.

Zappos! A zippy little word, indeed, and a worldwide phenomenon for the apparel and footwear obsessed. For the ranks of the uninitiated, zappos.com is a nontraditional kind of company — inspired by the Spanish word for shoes, zapatos. Consumers choose from a vast selection of products...
The Florida Film Festival (April 5-14) is hands down one of my favorite events in Orlando. Of course, the selection of films is grand (this year there are 167 from 31 different countries), it’s somewhat likely you’ll rub shoulders with a celebrity or filmmaker, and there’s the...
It was a picture-perfect day off the shores of Maui’s Makena Beach as our group of six paddled an outrigger canoe through the calm waters. It had been about 10 minutes or so since we left shore, but already we had arrived at the perfect snorkeling spot. I was still putting on my mask and...

Hi everyone!
If you dig SmartWool as much as I do, this is something to get super excited about. I’m giving away one men’s SmartWool jacket ($220) and one women’s SmartWool jacket ($220). So, how do you go about scoring a prize? It’s pretty darn easy:

Wondering what to wear on and off the ski slopes? I’ve got some ideas that are not only fashionable, but functional, too. Although I live in Florida, I’m no stranger to the cold. I’ve hiked in Alaska, gone dog sledding in Quebec and glacier trekking in Iceland just to name...
There are certain creature comforts I like having with me when I travel. 1) my inflatable neck pillow, 2) snacks galore and 3) my electric toothbrush. When traveling, I tote along my Sonicare DiamondClean toothbrush because there’s nothing like having super duper clean teeth on a long...
I’ve been to Quebec many times for a slew of adventures, including dog sledding, ziplining, offroading (in a Range Rover), snowshoeing and rafting. That said, I’ve never been there for sole purpose of hitting the slopes, until now. For this wintertime excursion, I made my way to...
It was an overcast day in January as I trotted along Hana Bay in Maui. My companion for the afternoon was Andrew, an expert waterman who has been fishing these waters for more than 30 years using a throw net, a handmade contraption with an intricate interweaving of strands. It’s an age-old...
