Agree that the Florida Keys is much better than Hawaii for snorkeling, due to the large waves. Also agree that if you're on the West Coast, it would be easier to drop down to Cozumel in Mexico (one of largest reefs in the world) instead of flying across the country.

I would say that as far as snorkeling within the continental US the Florida Keys is likely your best option, although some california destinations, such as catalina island offer some snorkeling as well.
Hawaii, is clearly the best US option - however its location may be a deterrent.

Isn't that in the US. It sure looks like it is.

The Florida Keys gets my vote for clear water, good visibility and lots of colorful fish. Hawaii is always fabulous but the water can often be rough, get deep fast and have strong currents. If you go there, find out from the locals where to go. Boats tours usually know the best (and safest) places to go.

Diving and/or snorkeling in the United States is by far, light years, but in the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, or Florida. We have extensive knowledge of dive/snorkeling vacations. If your question is limited to the USA because you do not have a passport, you are limiting yourself. Diving is not an inexpensive sport. If you do not have certification, that is your first step before you even thinking about a dive location. NO reputable dive site will allow you to dive without certification. Planning in advance gets you the most advantageous pricing. We would look forward to the opportunity to serve you. Feel free to Google or Bing us. We have been in business in Los Angeles since 1985.
