Koa Reforestation — Huaka'i 'Āina Ho'oilina (2/10)
were many different types of trees found in the mauka forests. One of the most prolific was Koa. Unfortunately, as the ahupua'a land divisions disappeared due to privatization, so did the Koa. Many of those trees were cleared and burned to make way for money-making ranching operations, while others were harvested for furniture and housing.
