Trinidad - Asa Wright Nature Centre
Trinidad is an ideal location for a naturalist's introduction to the tropics and the Asa Wright Nature Centre has been hosting visiting birders for half a century. The grounds themselves are in the middle of the rainforest and and the Asa Wright facility makes a good base from which to explore numerous other natural areas on the island.

Located at 1200 feet in the mountains of the Northern Range, seven miles north of the town of Arima, the Asa Wright Nature Centre (AWNC) is a world-class natural history destination for students of tropical ecology and is of particular interest to birdwatchers. A hand-held VX2000 provided these shots of a Green Honeycreeper, a Purple Honeycreeper and of course what I believe to be a White necked Jacobin Hummingbird visiting the nectar feeders.
