Highwood Lake is a very small tarn towards the end of the Mount Baker Highway (#542) towards its terminus at Artist's Point. About a mile from this lake further up the road is part of the Mount Baker Ski area. During spring and winter and late fall one can travel no further up the road than that. Around July 4th the last few miles (and a very steep portion) of the road is plowed out by WDOT.
