An amazing musician from Trivandrum, Kerala, INDIA !
I was in Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala, India for a few days. As I am stationed now in north Kerala after my re-location from Europe, I do not visit Trivandrum (where I was born) that often. During the vist last week I was able to travel around and inside Trivandrum city and take a long trip down the memory lane. This clip was taken after I met an amazing musician in front of the famous Sree Padmanabha Temple on the 15th of August,Friday, 2008. For the past 47 years he had been making a sort of hand made simple violin and selling it to the public to make a living. Mr Shamsudin played an appropriate tune for me on his violin as it was Indian Independence Day that day. His sound clarity was incredible.Hope u all enjoy his music.

Descending the Barkhera-Budni Ghat section - Trivandrum Rajdhani (Aug. 1995)
We crossing the Barkhera-Budni Ghat section in fading daylight. At that time, I was not aware of the unique Dn loop, otherwise I would have paid more attention to details.

(HD) WDP3A on a Curve - Trivandrum Rajdhani (Dec. 19, 2008)
The section from Karwar to Madgaon is dotted with gentle curves and tunnels. Here are a few of them. Note the assortment of coach liveries in the rake.
Trivandrum Rajdhani
Trivandrum Rajdhani negotiating a beautiful gradient on the Konkan route. Trivandrum Rajdhani does non-stop between Vadodara and Kota (528km) which is the longest continuous run on the Indian Railways. Also until July 1999, the Trivandrum Rajdhani had no intermediate passenger halts in its 986km run between Vadodara and Hazrat Nizamuddin. Trivandrum Rajdhani is also the longest running Rajdhani (3149 km). TVC Rajdhani runs three times a week and has 15 halts. Usually a WDP4 locomotive hauls the train from Trivandrum until Baroda and then a WAP4 until Nizamuddin. TVC rajdhani is at a disadvantage on the Konkan route, since it is single track and the train apart from failing to maintain a consistent speed, has also to stop or slow down for numerous crossings. 2431 TVC - Nizamuddin starts its journey at 19.15 and reaches Hazrat Nizamuddin, the third day at 12.40. 2432 Nizamuddin - TVC starts its journey at 11.00 and reaches Trivandrum, the third day at 05.45. The first stop is Ernakulam junction, after a non stop run of 206 KM. It halts for 5 min. Thrissur - 3 min Shoranur junction - 5 min Kozhikode - 2 min Kannur - 2 min Mangalore junction - 10 min Udupi - 1 min Karwar - 1 min Madgaon junction - 10 min Sawantwadi road - 1 min Ratnagiri - 5 min Panvel - 5 min Vasai road - 5 min Vadodara junction - 16 min Kota junction - 10 min AC 1st class fare - Rs 5240 AC 2 tier - Rs 3140 AC 3 tier - Rs 2425
Skipping Kollam - Trivandrum Rajdhani (Dec. 18, 2008)
The first big skip of the journey. Initially, it looked as if the train would halt there, but it went through the station much to my delight.
Trivandrum Rajdhani arrives from the Yard (Aug. 1995)
WAP1 #22009 brought the 11-coach rake into Nizamuddin station. This loco would be in charge all the way till Madras Central (and beyond). The train had been recently extended from Madras to Trivandrum.
