Wwoofing in Yellowknife

| Itinerary/Activities | Visited friends in Ontario for a week, then on to Yellowknife and from there to Blachford Lake Lodge by ski-plane where I helped open the place up and run it for winter visitors. |
| Most memorable part of trip | Lying in the outdoor hot tub, watching the northern lights. I was so mesmerised I dropped my footwear & when I got out of the tub couldn't find it: by the time I realised the lump frozen to my towel was one of my flip-flops, my foot had iced to the decking. But no harm done. |
| Useful tips | Various schemes (wwoof, workaway, helpex) offer board and food in return for work. It's a great way to meet all kinds of people (travelers and locals) and really get to know a place. And you do it all on the cheap. Blachford is pretty special as a paying visitor too. |
