  • On the Edge of the Valley of Fire - Portrait of an American icon in an American setting (Photo by )
  • Valley of Fire - I was planning on climbing this to see what was in those holes but reconsidered after I realized I was out of water and had to start heading back to the car, sharpish. (Photo by )
  • Valley of Fire - Daunting look at the Valley of Fire. You can see a car in the distance going down the road on their way towards the Visitor's Centre. (Photo by )
  • Valley of Fire - Near the Beehives, a group of roundish rock formations resembling beehives, shaped over time by sandstorms. I crouched under this overhang and was amazed how much light and colour there was inside. (Photo by )
  • Desert Highway - Road to the Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada. One of my favourite shots from the adventure. Look at that asphalt. Looking at this brings me right back to that moment when all I could smell was asphalt baking under the sun and all I could hear was a hawk shrieking in the distance. (Photo by )
  • The Huts - Lodging huts once used by travellers in the early 1900s in the Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada. (Photo by )
  • Valley of Fire - A sheer cliff face encloses an area sheltered from any breeze that may have been out. I spent 10 minutes in this heat bowl and had to get out before I overcooked. Fighter jets from the nearby Nellis Air Force ba<x>se were patrolling the the skies just out of view when I took this shot. (Photo by )
  • Valley of Fire - Shadows virtually don't exist under ledges like this, thanks to the powerful sunlight bouncing off of the red sand and rocks all around. (Photo by )
  • Valley of Fire - Giant arches and shards of red stone jut upwards, smoothed over time by sand being blown over them. (Photo by )
  • Winding Road Ahead - Valley of Fire State Park, Nevada. My favourite road sign to see when driving alone on perfect asphalt. (Photo by )
  • Valley of Fire - The colour of the rock is incredible. It radiates under the desert sun. Fine, red, fire hot sand aprons the rocks. I took my shoes off to walk through it and it is very, very hot. (Photo by )
  • Alone in the Desert - It was amazing how few people there were in the park. I explored the park for what must've been 4 hours and probably saw just a dozen other cars on the road the whole time. (Photo by )
  • Through the Valley - Despite how similar many areas of the park are, there are also very distinct spots. Giant, red sandstone formations alongside jagged, pale rocks. Flat expanses between towering walls of stone. Each scene is as unique as the last, sharing one common theme: red sandstone. (Photo by )
  • Into the Valley - The red sandstone in Nevada's Valley of Fire State Park gets darker and richer the further you get into the park. (Photo by )
  • Road to the Valley of Fire - What struck me most about the roads in the Valley of Fire State Park was their pristine condition. Warm, black asphalt that spends all day cooking under the sun makes for great grip around turns. Plus, the lack of any real variation in weather keeps the quality of the roads like new for much longer than what I'm used to in Toronto. (Photo by )
  • Central Park - Spent the day walking around NYC and got this idea for a different take on a panoramic shot of Central Park. (Photo by )
  • Las Vegas - The city in the desert. (Photo by )
  • Land Rover Driving Experience - Montebello, Quebec (Photo by )
  • Inside the Range Rover HSE - En route to the Land Rover Driving Experience trails located on 65,000 acres of land at the Fairmont Chateau Montebello in Quebec (Photo by )

  • Dean's Blue Hole - Long Island, The Bahamas. The world's deepest blue hole. Essentially, an underwater cave that goes 663ft straight down. (Photo by )

  • Cruise ship - Ship leaving port on Grand Cayman (Photo by )
  • Rum Point, Grand Cayman - Guide post on the beach at Rum Point in Grand Cayman. Great place to relax and unwind. Good food, good drink. (Photo by )
  • Rum Point, Grand Cayman - Pier leading from the beach into the water at Rum Point, Grand Cayman (Photo by )
  • Catching some air - This young guy was kind enough to show off some tricks for us at the Black Pearl Skatepark in Grand Cayman. At 62,000sqft it's the world's biggest park built specifically for skateboarding. There are also regular classes for kids by professional instructors. More at http://www.blackpearl.ky (Photo by )
  • Welcome to Hell - 'Hell' is the local tourist trap in Grand Cayman. It's this natural formation of black limestone that gave it its name. As the story goes, a local once exclaimed, 'this is what hell must look like.' There's a post office onsite where you can send postcards from hell to your family and friends. (Photo by )
  • Hell - The black limestone formations that give Hell its name. Lower right corner you can see a couple demons amongst the limestone spires. (Photo by )
  • Baby turtle - This little guy (or girl) was just a few days old. Their sex isn't established until later on in life. By regulating the temperature the babies are kept in, turtlers (my word for turtle farmers) can determine their sex. You can see babies and full-grown adults that are in some cases more than 40 years old at Boatswain's Beach Adventure Park & Turtle Farm. (Photo by )
  • Young Green Sea Turtle - So they're not really green when they're young. They're black and white and develop their green tint later in life. This little guy had a bit of heft to him - kind of like a bag of sand with twitchy fins. If you point them toward the water they instinctively flap their fins. See this guy and more at Boatswain's Beach Adventure Park & Turtle Farm. (Photo by )
  • Green Sea Turtles - Much older and larger green sea turtles at Boatswain's Beach Adventure Park & Turtle Farm. (Photo by )
  • Green sea turtle catching its breath - As you stand at the railing, watching the green sea turtles swim gracefully around Boatswain's Beach Adventure Park & Turtle Farm you can catch fleeting glimpses of them quickly coming up for air before dashing back under water. http://www.boatswainsbeach.ky/ (Photo by )
  • Hammerhead's Brew Pub & Grill - This restaurant & bar on the beach in the heart of George Town could be the real life version of the bar Cocktails & Dreams from the movie Cocktail. (Photo by )
  • The sea was angry that day my friends - Having a pint of local Cay Brew, Grand Cayman's locally brewed beer, at Hammerhead's Brew Pub & Grill in George Town. The remnants of Hurricane Tomas were still prevalent as large wave after wave completely engulfed the lower patio section. (Photo by )
  • The Royal Playa Del Carmen - view from my room at the Royal Playa Del Carmen in Mexico (Photo by )
  • Going for a swim - If the straw umbrellas on the beach aren't enough to cool you down, there's always the ocean a few steps away. (Photo by )
  • Room with a view - View of the ocean from an oceanview room at Sandals Emerald Bay (Photo by )
  • Welcome present - Upon arrival at the Sandals Emerald Bay you're greeted with a bucket of champagne on ice with a fruit and chocolate tray. Well, we were at least. (Photo by )
  • Refined luxury - This is the lobby of the Sandals Emerald Bay with a view of the huge pool through the glass doors. The lobby is decorated with local Bahamian art and sculptures. (Photo by )
  • Pool at night - Come nightfall, the pool turns into a sky mirror with a large fire burning bright in the middle. (Photo by )
  • Poolside - While I'm not one to sit around a pool when there's a perfectly good ocean a few steps away, I can see the appeal here. I took this photo in the morning as the grounds crew were still out and about preparing the property for a wedding designed by Martha Stewart exclusively for Sandals Emerald Bay. (Photo by )
  • Golf on the ocean - The Greg Norman designed golf course at Sandals Emerald Bay was the location for a season of The Big Break on the Golf Channel. (Photo by )
  • Junkanoo - At night, if you're lucky, a junkanoo band will stop through and play a few tunes. If you've never witnessed or been part of junkanoo, picture a roving brass and steel drum band dressed up in elaborate costumes you see here travelling from neighbourhood to neighbourhood, walking, playing and dancing at the same time. (Photo by )
  • Honeymooners - As I relaxed on my balcony during the sunset, these two honeymooners hired the resident Sandals photographer to take some photos for them on the beach. Hopefully they don't mind me taking their picture too! (Photo by )
  • Enjoying the sunshine - At midday it was hard to believe we were some of the only people on the beach. (Photo by )

  • - The fantastic ice range of the Cordillera Huayhuash is renowned for knife-edged 20,000-foot peaks that attract mountaineers from around the world. Seven of Peru's highest peaks rise from this dramatic massif, whose awesome beauty can be seen in the gripping adventure film Touching the Void. Our challenging 14-day trek crosses seven high passes as we circle the entire range, with nearly continuous panoramas of towering Andean giants, including Yerupaja (21,759'), second highest mountain in Peru. Our adventure culminates in an optional climb of Diablo Mudo (17,235'), a non-technical snow peak with panoramic views across the entire Huayhuash. Sunny blue skies, mild daytime temperatures, and a profusion of edelweiss and purple lupine make these mountains an alpine paradise.

- full Huayhuash trek from 12 to 14 days
- huayhuash clasic 10 days
- huayhuash - cajatambo 8 to 10 days
- queropalca huayhuash 7 days
