Historic Salem
$84
Join us as we travel to Salem to explore the unique history of what at one time was New England’s busiest
seaport, home to authors and made famous by the witch trials of the 1600’s. Our day begins with a visit
to the Witch Museum which will acquaint you with what happened during the Witch Trials . You will
learn that the witch hysteria was caused by eating contaminated grain and the imagination of teenagers
looking for attention. Next it is on to Pickering Wharf where many modern witches have their shops.
Most of the witches who own the shop will be more then happy to explain their beliefs and religion for
those that ask. Today’s witches belief’s are based more on being in harmony with the planet then with
satanic rituals often attributed to them. Lunch will be included at Victoria Station over looking the
harbor. In the afternoon we will visit the Salem Maritime Museum run by the National Park Service
where you will learn the importance of Salem and its sailing fleet. You will be able to walk through the
historic district where you will see homes dating back to the 1700’s. Our final stop will be to the House of
Seven Gables. The former home of Nathaniel Hawthorn. On your tour you will have the opportunity to
explore what were once secret passages in this home while learning about the authors life.
