Depart for England and the “World of Coronation Street”. Gather at Toronto Pearson International Airport and embark on your flight to Manchester.
Friday, September 11th
Upon arrival at Manchester Airport we meet our Tour Director. After checking in to our city centre hotel there is free time for a rest or an afternoon stroll before an early evening sherry reception and informal supper in the hotel. Optional early night or visit to the local ‘Rovers’ for a British pint. (D.)
Saturday, September 12th
After a hearty breakfast, it’s time to say hello to Weatherfield! Casual dinner with guest. Find out more about the history and making of Coronation Street as we visit some familiar locations and introduce you to Manchester during the morning. The afternoon is free for you to hit the shops or relax at the hotel. This evening we enjoy a casual dinner with a special guest. (B.D.)
Sunday, September 13th
Explore the Principality of Wales – rugged coastline, soaring mountains, a train ride and a fantasy town. Today we motor through the county of Cheshire on our way to Wales. The coastal route offers glimpses of breathtaking scenery before we take the road up into the Snowdonia National Park. Here we will transfer onto the Ffestiniog Railway for a 14 mile scenic trip through the park and back down to the coast where our coach will be waiting at Porthmadog Station. From here we travel inland to Portmeirion where you will have free time to explore the Italianate village created by Sir Clough Williams-Ellis and made world famous as the location for the cult TV series ‘The Prisoner’ and as the place where Noel Coward wrote ‘Blithe Spirit’. You’ll enjoy the bizarre architecture, quaint shops and choice of eateries. Later we will take the coastal road back to Manchester affording you views across
Liverpool Bay. (B.A.)
Monday, September 14th
There’s so much to Manchester – and we have a local to show you the sights. Discover more of Manchester as we take you on a city centre tour, call in at a Tudor mansion house, pass the famous Manchester United Stadium at Old Trafford and have free shopping time at the impressive Trafford Centre Shopping Mall, the largest in the region. This evening is free for you to explore the city further on your own – or catch up with the latest episode of Corrie in your hotel room. (B.)
Tuesday, September 15th
Have your cameras ready for an experience of a lifetime! A day packed with adventures. This morning is at leisure. Meet up around noon to explore a very special location indeed – you’ll be real VIP’s today as you’ll have an experience to make you the envy of all your Corrie-loving friends. Then it’s back to the hotel to get your glad rags on before we whisk you off to a fantastic gala dinner with a very special guest. (B.D.A)
Wednesday, September 16th
Time to leave Manchester as we head to Scotland. We leave Manchester and head north making a couple of stops on the way including the world famous Gretna Green, just across the Scottish border. Since the mid-nineteenth century couples have come here to be married by the blacksmith. Today the anvil is still used for weddings but it’s also part of a quaint village of shops, restaurants and attractions. Then we take the high road to Glasgow, Scotland’s finest Victorian city. We’ll check into our new hotel and then you have the evening free to relax/then we will enjoy a casual dinner together. (B.D.)
Thursday, September 17th
Explore one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. It’s all aboard the coach as we explore this beautiful city and learn something of its history. We’ll see the famous River Clyde, pass Glasgow Cathedral and stop at the Museum of Transport where you’ll have time to take in the exhibits detailing the city’s shipbuilding, car and motorcycle industries and view the impressive art deco shops in the recreation of a 1930s street. The evening is free for you to eat out, go to the theatre or simply relax – the choice is yours. (B.A)
Friday, September 18th
Stunning scenery and countryside! We take in some of the surrounding countryside today as we take a day trip out of the city. First stop is the Lomond Shores Mall – a mix of shops, cafes and stunning views across Loch Lomond. We then drive through the beautiful Queen Elizabeth Forest Park to Callander, a pretty town on the edge of the Trossachs. Callander achieved prominence during the 1960’s as the fictional setting ‘Tannochbrae’ in the TV series ‘Dr Finlay’s Casebook’. After free time to explore the town we will meet for dinner and then head back to Glasgow. (B.D.)
Saturday, September 19th
Turn back the clock and learn about Glasgow’s past This morning we visit the Victorian splendour of the People’s Palace and Winter Gardens. This social history museum, set on Glasgow Green, right on the Clyde, will show you how people lived and worked in the city – and it features one or two unusual exhibits too! Following our visit you can either be dropped off in the shopping district or back at the hotel. This evening we enjoy a farewell dinner. (B.A.D)

It’s farewell Scotland as we transfer you to Glasgow Airport for your return flight. (B.)
