Day 1: Savannah is where your vacation begins. Transfers from the airport to the hotel will be provided for those getting their own air. For those flying on group air or wishing to originate in Jacksonville Florida our motor coach will depart the airport between 11:30 and 12:00 PM. A lunch stop (on own) will be made enroute to Savanna with an anticipated arrival time at the hotel at 3:00 PM. After checking into the hotel and meeting up with your fellow travelers. We will travel a short distance to Tybee Island to watch the sun set and enjoy a low country regional dinner. Dinner included.
Day 2: The day begins with breakfast at the hotel followed by a taste of Savannah tour. We will make stops at the Candy Kitchen where you will see and taste home made candies being made. We will visit Mom & Nikki’s Soul food where you will learn what soul food is and taste some traditional southern cooking. We will visit Back in the Day Bakery voted Savannahs best Bakery in 2008, Our next stop will be The New South Café where we will get a taste of southern cooking and hospitality. Next it is on to Angel’s Barbecue for a taste of Memphis Bar Be Cue. We will make other stops as time permits. After our morning tour you will have time to explore the historic City Market area before boading a Riverboat for an afternoon cruise. Those that are having too much fun in the historic district are welcome to meet up with later on. Cocktales at the hotel befoe dinner are included. Tonight we will feature dinner at Paula Dean’s Restaurant Lady & Sons. Breakfast and Dinner
Day 3: After a hearty breakfast we will be joined by a local guide for a living history tours exploring the various cultures and ethenic groups that make up the culture of Savannah. On this tour you will step back in time and the history and culture of Savannah and her people will come alive. This journey through time is shure to be a facinating part of your journey. The afternoon is free for you to enjoy all Savannah has to offer. Perhaps you will enjoy a trolley tour, or a visit to Savannah’s parks and gardens, or learning about some of the history related to the Girl Scouts. Your tour director will take you on an optional visit to a few of Savannah’s Pubs and Taverns where we will raise a toast to good cheer and celebrate life. Tonight you will enjoy a night of Tye’s Tours famous “dine as you please program” where you will be given a gift card where you have the option of dining in the restaurant of your choice. Your tour director will have lots of suggestions for you. After Dinner we will meet with a local guide for a Savannah Ghost Tour. Savannah has often been reffered to as one of the most haunted cities in America. And there is no telling what the evening will bring. Coctales before dinner included at hotel. Breakfast and Dinner.
Day 4: After breakfast we will depart Savannah for the city of Charleston. It will take us about two hours to get to Charleston and on arrival in Charleston you will have a horse drawn carriage ride through the historic district. In the afternoon we will feature a tour of historic Charleston Harbor Cruise where you will see the beauty of this city from the water. During December we will visit Davis Park for one of the mosst elaborate lighting displays that you will ever see. Breakfast and Dinner.
Day 5: Our day bvegins with breakfast and a visit to Magnolia Plantation which is alive with color in the spring when the azalias, rohderdendrens and magnolias bloom. You will discover what plantation life was like as Magnolia Plantation has survived the centuries and witnessed the history of our nation unfold before it from the American Revolution through the Civil War and beyond. It is the oldest public tourist site in the low country, and the oldest public gardens in America, opening its doors to visitors in 1870 to view the thousands of beautiful flowers and plants in its famous gardens. So join us here at Magnolia Plantation to experience the beauty of its gardens and its rich history today. One of the highlights of the day will be the nature train ride where you experience history and wildlife on this action-packed tram tour of the plantation’s wetlands, lakes, forests, and marshes. Naturalist guides help you spot alligators, turtles, egrets, and herons in native habitats. You never know what you might see. One minute you’ll glimpse an alligator sliding off a bank and the next you’ll turn your head to catch a great blue heron spearing a fish. And as you ride through the landscape, guides bring its history to life. From a row of slave cabins to 19th century rice ponds and a Native American ceremonial mound that evoke the plantation’s complex past. The tour will bring to life the true landscape and culture of the old South. With more than 600 acres of wildlife habitats and gardens, it can be difficult to see everything there is to see on foot. The nature train allows you to view a large portion of these wonderful areas in a entertaining and educational way. This afternoon we will transfer to smaller coaches so that we can explore the historic district as the large motor coaches just can’t fit down Charleston’s narrow streets. Breakfast and Dinner.
Day 6: This is our final morning to enjoy the magic of Charleston, The motor coach will stop at the Visitor Center and you will have time to explore Charleston’s history on your own. Perhaps you will want to watch the multi media presentation at the Visitors Center, tour a historic home, take a walking tour, tour the Citadel, explore the old jail or the old slave market, visit the Custom House, wander the streets in the historic district. Charleston has so many unique places that we want you to have time to enjoy the things that interest you. Transportation to the airport will be provided with departures scheduled to begin after 2:00 PM. Breakfast.
