Crenelated Sidewalk, Indian Hill Road, Riverside, USA. The road is charming because it has several unusual featuers: It has a raised sidewalk. It's raised approx. 4' above the surface of the street, and the sidewalk's facia is surfaced with rusticated stone. Every 15' or so, a crenelation raises up about 3' and a chain connects them. Unfortunately, parts are in need of repair, and vandals or metal collectors -- perhaps even local residents -- have removed several of the lengths of chain. The tops of some of the crenelations are crowned with classical-looking concrete pots, but, alas, a few of these have also been removed. I often take my girlfriend this way just to experience the beauty of the street; and I wish that Riverside would do two things: erect more such motifs, and repair these. Locals and out-of-towners travel to this charming landmark. From this destination, one can see some of the cityscape of Riverside, California, USA. It's a real event when the whole family makes this cultural tour. Someone once remarked, "John Dingler. You are an artist so you must really like this crenelated sidewalk on Indian Hill Road." I reply, "Yes, and it's rare to see crenelations nowdays. You associate them with European medieval castles." Music is "Moderato Con Moto," from Faust
