Travel Highway 39 North Azusa to Crystal Lake Campground, Deer Flats, Big Cienega, Hawkins Ridge Trail, Little Jimmy, Windy Gap, Glendale (Highway 2), and returned back to the campground. Thirty six miles of beautiful scenery, and wild life. Extraordinary escarpments and serene views. Most of these Jeffery Pine trees don't exist due to a fire that nearly destroyed everything. On this day you could see Catalina looking north. Looking south you see El Mirage desert from Highway 2. The elevation starts at 5,000 feet and ends at 9,850 feet. The trail is about 17 miles up and 17 miles all the way back down, however making the round trip 34 miles total.
