The Reddings - The Awakening LIVE Belgium (1982)
This is a VERY RARE radio recording from the legendary bass/drum instrumental. It was recorded in 1982 from a radio station program called 'Funkytown' broadcasted by the BRT (Belgian Radio and Televion). Rick James was also in the onions... This instrumental is now performed regularly by 'Les Claypool' (Primus). But nothing ever beats the original by the REAL REDDINGS!!!

The Awakening dexter redding - les claypool bass cover
This is my interpretation of Les Claypool's version of "The Awakening". This song was originally written and performed by Otis Redding's son Dexter Redding, and sadly, is seldom recognized as such. This song is very difficult to play so please don't mind the discrepancy's, as this isn't my best performance, just a quick vid to put out there. I play it more like Claypool's version because its the version I've heard the most. But keep in mind I'm not trying to copy and as you can see I play it ...
