Terror in North Dakota Tornado Hits Northern Parts of State. While waiting for official verification on whether it was a tornado that hit Dickinson last night, there have been several other tornadoes confirmed near the Canadian border. Near Portal, two firefighters say they drove away from a tornado that blew out their back windows. Tornadoes also hit near Northgate and Sherwood. The town of Sherwood sits close to the Canadian border, and last night the town was in close vicinity of thunder ...
Tornado Warned Supercell near Grand Forks, North Dakota: June 26th, 2009
Video of the tornado-warned supercell that developed near Lakota, North Dakota on June 26th, 2009. This supercell went through various life cycles as it rolled East towards the City of Grand Forks. This storm was well warned before it hit Grand Forks with sirens sounding about an hour prior. Grand Forks has recently installed new state-of-the-art sirens at the University of North Dakota and you can hear them in the video. They sound eerily awesome. Video of a less famous tornado from the April 26, 1991 outbreak that included the famous 'Kansas Underpass Tornado' and the Andover Kansas Tornado. This tornado occurred a little bit before the Andover one. My thanks to cobraking619 for identifying this tornado.
BNSF Rolla Local at Cando, North Dakota
An example of branch-line railroading on the BNSF. The Rolla Local staggers along at 10 mph with 21 cars bound for the elevator in Cando, North Dakota. Note that the terrain isn't exactly at such an incline as this video suggests. Apparently my tripod wasn't very level when I was filming - sorry about that.
