United States Capitol Building Washington DC

Title:
United States Capitol Building Washington DC

Description:
Ryan Janek Wolowski in Washington DC ******************* The United States Capitol is among the most symbolically important and architecturally impressive buildings in the nation. It has housed the meeting chambers of the House of Representatives and the Senate for two centuries. The Capitol, which was started in 1793, has been through many construction phases. It stands today as a monument to the American people and their government. An example of 19th-century neoclassical architecture, the Capitol evokes the ideals that guided the Founding Fathers as they developed the new republic The Capitol is located on Capitol Hill - District of Columbia - at the east end of the National Mall. Visitors must obtain free tickets on a first-come, first-served basis, at the Capitol Guide Service kiosk located along the curving sidewalk southwest of the Capitol, near the intersection of First St., S.W., and Independence Ave. Ticket distribution begins at 9:00 a.m; the capitol is open from 9:00am to 4:30pm, Monday-Saturday, closed Sundays, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. For further information, please call 202/225-6827 or visit the Capitol's website. Tour of Washington DC on a band trip
My 16 yr. old son Alex "allowed" me to chaperone a band trip (thanks Alex!) to Washington on Memorial Day weekend. Being a normal teenager establishing his independence and autonomy, he hopped on the second chartered bus from Myrtle Beach, SC to DC, when I went on the first bus. He had a wonderful lady named Barb as a tour guide on his bus. I had a man named Bob, who was very knowledgeable, but who liked to refer to himself in the third person alot. I was going to add music to this, but ...
