Title:
One last insult to our determination
Description:
We made it! The Squadron13 team and bus are home safe from their 7000+ mile round trip to witness and support IVAW's Winter Soldier Investigation. We crossed into Oregon just South of Pasco Washington about 10pm last night and managed to make it to Portland by 2 am this morning. Kinda fitting that nature would take one last swipe at us during our last two hours of travel with a heavy rain and wind storm on the final Portland to Eugene leg. Let's see, that makes a late start, late first planned stop in Sacramento, late or missed every stop after that thanks to a broken universal joint in Arizona, over 30 man-hours getting lost on DC freeways thanks to what had to have been the enormous clouds of BS that got thicker as one got closer to the Very White House, a heavy snow and ice storm as we passed back through congested Chicago freeways which ultimately forced us into a motel, near blizzard conditions across most of North Dakota with temperatures down into the teens, water freezing inside our throttle cable (acts just like glue!) forcing more mechanical repairs and another day layover in a motel, two of us getting sick, one minor hand injury, one computer had a complete meltdown, two others computers have partial failures (irony dictates that only the Apple Computer survives intact), many missed showers, many cold nights of little or poor sleep, many missed meals for one reason or another, and frustratingly scarce internet connections the whole way. All this misery make's one ponder, was it worth it? YOU BET!!!!! The Winter Soldier Investigation in D.C. will rank as one of the most powerful actions ever against a war, and against the powers who have stolen the control of our Government away from its rightful owners, the American people. As surely as waves emanate from the bow of a boat in travel, huge waves of awareness and consciousness will ebb for many years from the events that took place in D.C. in mid-March of 2008. Being a small part of this was an amazing experience that will take some time to tell. Thanks again to all our supporters and friends who helped us!
