From the May 15, 2008, TMU concert in the Brown Theatre. This is the fifth movement of The Music of Bharam Chak, a work for percussion theatre by Chris Mayer. This video shows the performance of the music recorded live in concert, with the scripted narration and images that were projected on the screen above the ensemble. The lighting on this video is less than optimal to say the least. The staging and costume elements are not clearly seen. The ensemble members are wearing black robes and custom-made masks, depicting the deities and elementals of the Bharam Chak mythos. Having survived the era known as The Multiplication of the Spears, the Time Mages of Bharam Chak seek the evolution of their society by metaphysical means. They develop the technique of chronomusicology: space and time travel via rhythm. They set out onto the Dream Roads, the pathways that crisscross the multiverse.
