96 Band Bacoor, Cavite Since 1930 Founded March 1930. First, it was named as Banda Muling Sumilang composed by youth that came from Banda Bagong Silang. Then, changed into 96 Band by Mr. Francisco L. Pagtakhan and Mr. Angel Gervacio based from The Philippine Revolutions 1896. Administered first by Mr. Victor Enriquez and his spouse Maria Lim then, taken control by Mr. Eulalio Alava under the baton of Maestro Miguel Apolonio. Conductors: 1. Miguel Apolonio 2. Rosendo E. Santos 3. Valentin J. Pagtakhan 4. Casiano F. Antonio 5. Ricardo E. Paraiso 6. Avelino G. Mendoza - present Significant Years February 9, 1934, Talisay Batangas Coming from a band engagement a road accident happened while going back to Bacoor, Cavite. Their bus was on the creek and saved by a coconut tree. From that experience, the band started to offer a march to the church before going to any band engagement outside Bacoor, Cavite. 1948, Prof. Rosendo Ejercito Santos Professor in University of the Philippines - Conservatory of Music. 96 Band that time was on the hype of Descriptive Music. A great composer/arranger. 1954, Bongabon Occidental, Mindoro It was a celebration at the sea which we call Karakol. The Pagoda or the boat was been broke. Fortunately, no one got hurt and only lost some instruments. 1955, Brgy. San Pedro, Makati, Metro Manila 96 Band received the trophy for best interpretation on 1812 Overture under the baton of Prof. Rosendo Santos. April 12, 1956, US Naval Base Fire Dept. Band 96 Band auditioned at Subic Base after they went from a fiesta in Castillejos, Zambales. The band played American Patrol March. Fire Chief Donal Farrar catch his attention to 96 Band who is also a musician(plays trumpet)then he made his decision to hire them who will base on Subic. Maestro Casiano F. Antonio was their composer/arranger who create musics requested by Chief Farrar. These musicians were granted a US Visa to travel and work at United States. Lucky enough that they are member of 96 Band. December 1961, Ilocos Norte - Breeze The band was hired by Breeze, a detergent bar company. September 22, 1974, ABS-CBN A concert at Bacoor Town Plaza headed by Mr. Jhonny de Leon was fascinated the Konsyerto ng Banda. 96 Band played the piece Lundangin mo Baby and the present conductor - Avelino G. Mendoza who was a nine year old boy performed a trumpet solo piece - Polka ni Toto. April 10, 1977, Himig 96 Its veteran musicians went to United States and the need to teach the new generation of 96 band emerge. Through the initiative and discipline of Mr. Doroteo Mendoza, the new generation was formed to revive and continue the legacy of 96 Band. May 4, 2005, Diamond - 75′th Anniversary A parade and a concert held at Bacoor Town Plaza on that date. A gathering of present and former musicians. Where former conductors received acknowledgment for their contribution and a well deserved praise. The theme was: 96 Band Solid @ 75″ April 12, 2009, The 7′th Generation of Musicians They are the new kids on the block. composed by 30 young musicians.
