Re: The Weather Channel Relaunch-Aug. 15th 2005

Description:
I thought it was neat that UNCJerry77 posted the last Local Forecast before the August 15, 2005 5 AM relaunch -- the last time the classic rectangular logo was used for on-air purposes by The Weather Channel. So, I decided to post an old double take video created during my tenure as webmaster on TWCClassics.com which features that same exact broadcast as it appeared on Vernon Metcalf's WeatherSTAR 4000 out of South Central Ohio and my IntelliSTAR here in Minneapolis, MN. Enjoy! - Chazz

Dangerously frigid weather
The blizzard that closed portions of I-35 in the southern tier of Minnesota has moved away, leaving behind temps in the teens below zero and gusty winds that are bringing the wind chill factors down to 30 and 40 degrees below zero -- including here in Minneapolis where the Wind Chill was -39 last hour. The NWS is advising not to go outside unless it is absolutely necessary and not to dare going outside without being completely covered. I'd like your input on the text of this weatherstar 4000 ...
Strong storms from the Great Lakes down through Kansas

One Seriously Messed Up WeatherSTAR 4000
Duplicating a problem my friend Ashley had when his weatherstar 4000 was installed, this video features a STAR that fails to draw the background, allowing you to see all the work its doing in the background. This is something I've wanted to do for a long time - I hope that you enjoy it!
Weather Channel Error - Jan 22, 2008 - 1:45 AM ET
This happened about an two and a half hours after a power surge hit The Weather Channel's studios. They revert back to what appears to be an old WSI system (the computer that powers the satellite local forecast), and we have a glimpse of the old (1998-2006) weather icons that TWC used. Also, the famous (or infamous, depending on who you ask) music of Trammell Starks plays in the background! PS Notice how the screen goes green at :22. That appears to be the chroma key (green wall) that the ...
New Year's 4000 with Drawing Issues
As New Year's 1996 rang in, so did a whole new era of music... Trammell Starks made his debut on TWC on New Years Eve 1995 -- and 14 years later, his music is still heard regularly on the network. Something that also was occurring around this time were drawing issues on 4000's nationwide. Most of the time the issues were minor, but on a few occasions graphics would get a little hairy on the 4000.
The Weather Channel (2003 - 2005) Music Montage
In 2003 - 2005 It was the "Live By It" Era for the Weather Channel. It is when most people agree that Weather Channel was in at its best, music wise, the new switch to HD was truly remarkable too for The Weather Channel, however the music themes they had back in 2003 - 2005 truly are missed so here is a montage of all of the themes in which The Weather Channel used back in 2003 - 2005. Here is the order of the themes in the order in which they are played: Evening Edition Weekend Now Weekend ...

My first ever emulation in After Effects-ft. moving map-4/07
My friends Matt (of TWC Classics fame) and Alex (of aaroads fame) were coming up to visit last April. Alex few into Omaha and they drove over to Minneapolis. This was a special forecast I made just for them - and it was my first TWC emulation in After Effects. I used the Taiganet 4000 emulator in combination with the maps I created for the Taiganet emulator, the TWC logo and the 4000 font... and made what you see here. I always wanted to attempt a moving map. Recognize this song from the TWC ...
