Some footage, mostly of Poolesville, MD (but some of Washington, DC in the beginning) that I took. I'm a student at Goddard College in Vermont, where we get to design our own curriculum. This semester, I'm doing some study of decaying oral traditions and their visual reconstitution in First Nations Canada. I'll travel to Haida Gwaii in December to spend some time learning/volunteering, but in the meantime I'm reading quite a bit and trying to apply some of the principles I'm coming across to my everyday life. The impetus for the video taken here is academic: to provide some insight to my professor (Goddard is a low-residency school) about where I've been and what I've been up to. The content, though, is the result of a conscious effort on my part to reconnect with my geographic home (now Poolesville, MD. Once upon a time Washington, DC) and the communities of people I'm part of in those places. I'll be taking this video off of Youtube next January when I've received credit for my semester, as it's mostly for documentary purposes.
