Spinning in Zero Gravity

Title:
Spinning in Zero Gravity

Description:
Student spinning in zero gravity while aboard NASA's KC-135a 'Weightless Wonder'. NASA prefers this name to the 'Vomit Comet' for PR reasons. The purpose of the flight was to conduct a student reduced gravity experiment; however NASA gives everyone a chance to enjoy the weightless environment. This plane is used to train astronauts and to perform experiments that can only be done in microgravity. The plane has also been used to film the zero-g shots for the movie Apollo 13. The KC-135a has been retired and now resides at the Pima Air and Space open air museum in Tucson AZ. A C-9 is currently used as NASA's reduced gravity airplane. The physics involved with reduced gravity flights and more can be found at: www.plasmaben.com/zerog.html I am now published! "In The Lab: Humor for Graduate Students in Engineering, Physics and Math and Those Who Suffer with Them" http://www.amazon.com/Lab-Benjamin-Longmier/dp/1430322160/

Earth view from spinning Space Shuttle, HD
This video was shot out Endeavour's right two windows after undocking during a series of orbital maneuvers. A large micro meteorite orbital debris (MMOD) pit is visible in the right most window. The KU-band antenna tracking TDRS can also be seen through the right window. One image taken every 15 seconds and played back at 5 frames per image

Record Power Level For The VASIMR VX-200i, HD
This is a record power level test firing in a series of experiments with the VASIMR VX-200 plasma rocket prototype. The rocket's 1st stage (a Helicon plasma source) was fired at 30 kw using a state-of-the-art solid state RF power supply, and the rocket's 2nd stage was fired at 149 kw using a second solid state RF power supply. Argon gas was used as the propellant, and gives a distinctive purple/blue/UV glow. The second half of the video is slowed down to 1/10 speed during the firing of the ...
