CTA's Old 4000-Series Cars, Illinois Railway Museum
You've seen cars similar to these in the closing credits of the TV series "Good Times". These started out as Chicago Rapid Transit Company cars in the 1920's, and were running on the cta's Evanston Express line when they were finally retired in the early '70's. These bring back so many memories: the "Safety First" and "No Smoking/Spitting" stickers, the white bakelite standee straps, the green-and-yellow livery, even the sounds of them in motion. A wonderful, wonderful day.
