Northward to Franklin Avenue
On a #55 Hiawatha line train, headed north from the Cedar Avenue overpass into the Franklin Avenue station. When riding through cities on Amtrak or local rail transit, one often sees long stretches of junky, cluttered old industrial back yards alongside the tracks. This short stretch of the former Milwaukee Road main line, barely two blocks, is the only such segment along the Hiawatha line.
