A 6-mile excursion pulled by Flagg Coal #75, an operating coal-fired 0-4-0 steam locomotive built by Vulcan Iron Works of Wilkes Barre, PA in 1930. This 40-ton saddle tank locomotive was used as a switch engine until 1935 when it was sold and used to push 4-wheel hopper cars from the steam shovel to the crusher at the rock quarry until 1953. The locomotive sat untouched in a museum until 1991, when John and Byron ... |

The oddball shaped building on the right is Russell's Old #1 plant, where I worked for a short period (1 year) back in 1983. You may be able to make out that the top of the hill directly in front of the mill was once the roadbed of a short spur off of the main. You can see the pit where coal was dropped down to ground level. |

I'm being told that the great, old Big John hoppers, named after John Henry of the famous hand vs. steam drill story, are headed to Albertville, AL for scraping. What a huge shame! |

The fist scene shows the lone engine pulling a portion of train into downtown. This engine uncoupled and ran up on a spur. The second scene shows another section of train shoved to couple with the first section. Two more EARY motors then shove the whole train through the NS/EARY connection and into the stubbed end siding for NS to pick up later in the day. |
