Day 10 - Cadillac Ranch west of Amarillo

Title:
Day 10 - Cadillac Ranch west of Amarillo

Description:
Pressing onward just west of town we spotted a route 66 icon. In the middle of a soggy field we literally skated our way across the fertile mud to the Cadillac Ranch. The ranch consists of 10 Cadillacs buried hood first up to their front windshield at about a 25 degree angle. It is quite a menagerie, every inch of each car has countless layers of graffiti and being situated right in the middle of a verdant field the whole thing drips with roadside attraction kitsch that made route 66 so famous.

Day 9 - Forth Woth Stockyard
The main drag through the Stockyards has been restored to resemble the old west storefronts s and cattle yards of western antiquity. Even though the weathered facades are probably more modern than they appear it still gives the area a sense of character and charm. The street was full of western wear stores, saloons, restaurants and novelty shops

Day 11 - Nob Hill and Kelley's Pub
We pulled into our RV park around 1pm and once Kodi was parked we went into town for a little exploring. I had seen a video online about Nob Hill a gentrified bit of Albuquerque right near the University of New Mexico's campus along the old route 66 path. The few blocks which comprise this little trade area are full of unique shops and restaurants. Needing to get some grub our first stop was Kelley's Brewery Pub. The restaurant occupies the old garages and show room of a Ford dealership that ...
Cadillac Ranch - Amarillo, TX - Road Trip 2009
On our 2009 road trip from NYC to LA, we had to take a quick stop at the sort of ridiculous (but also kind of cool) Cadillac Ranch right outside of Amarillo, Texas on whats left of the old Route 66. So it's a bunch of old cars in a field. But here it is for everyone to see. We forgot spray paint, but all the other kiddies were having a blast with theirs. Silly, but fun.
