A man was charged in the shooting of two workers at a country club bar and grill over the weekend following his arrest in Missouri. Wannis David Widner, 36, of Atchison, was charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder, Atchison County Attorney Jerry Kuckelman said Wednesday. Working on a tip, officers arrested Widner Tuesday at a home in Buckner, Mo., about 60 miles southeast of Atchison and just east of Kansas City, Mo. Widner is accused of arming himself with a .22-caliber rifle Sunday night and trying to confront his estranged wife at the bar and grill where she works at the Bellevue Country Club in Atchison. Widner allegedly shot manager Mike Bove and a 21-year-old cook who had come into his path.
