Arbiter Digitigrade Stilts test, June 2008.
June 29, 2008, old progress. This was during the design phase of my Arbiter costume for Dragoncon '08. The stilts are designed after Tatapoulos Studios stilts created for 'Underworld Evolution".
Digitigrade leg demo
Using the construction methods and blueprints from this video: www.youtube.com We made some slight changes to the design, such as using slimmer boards and sanding down the back edges for better costuming. They're actually pretty comfortable to walk around in!
Digigrade Werewolf Stilts Part 3
The stilts are pretty much done. I changed out the wooden ferring strips for flat bar aluminum 1/4" thick x 3/8" wide. They were about $4 US each and cut and drilled very easily. They are much thinner and much stronger than the wood. My girlfriend Martyna was nice enough to record me prancing in my back yard.
Having fun with drywall stilts
Me walking around the lab/class room in drywall stilts.
Padding Shoes For Werewolf Stitls
For these ( www.youtube.com ) stilts... How we decided to cushion the shoes that were screwed into a board in 4 places. PS The silicone putty doesn't air harden, it's a chemical reaction--but that's the best way I could think of to explain that it doesn't need baking or special treatment to solidify.
Digigrade Werewolf Stilts Part 2
The stilts are now all furred up. I briefly explain what modifications I had to do at the last moment.
Digigrade Werewolf Stilts
Started making some stilts for my werewolf costume. Here's a quick overview of the basics of the stilts. Since then I have had to make a few changes, but I will cover that in the next video.
Digitigrade Stilts prototype 1
First attempt at digitigrade stilts. I plan to make some changes to the design, but we took some video to show what it looks like to walk in them. Also: if anyone knows how to rotate video in windows moviemaker without squishing it, I would be most grateful.
Werewolf Stilts 2
Now i have foam layered on the stilts as well as padding for the back of my calf and thighs to help enhance the digigrade appearance and make everything blend better. Also added long black claws to the feet made of super sculpty clay which is extremely durable. They still move just as well and not adding any additional weight. Hope you like them so far Im getting even more excited now and cant wait to start adding the fur o^-^o
Werewolf digigrade stilts

Finally made a perfected version of stilts. orgininally made 3 years ago based off the Underworld Movies thanks to others on Youtube and my friends Jenna which i commissioned her yellow eyed wolf mask they are done!
