While visiting family in North Carolina over the Veterans Day weekend, I took one day to pay a visit to Hamlet and take in the CSX activity there. In addition to a major yard facility (which I didn't visit this trip) and an historic station, Hamlet marks the intersection of two CSX mainlines; one running east from Charlotte to Wilmington, and the other down from Raleigh to Columbia, SC. North Carolina Trains
In March I made a trip up to North Carolina to visit a friend. Along the way I was able to catch a few trains on video. The first two trains take place in Battle, North Carolina which is North of Rocky Mount. The last train takes place at the Rocky Mount Station.
NS P-17 Working Blacksburg, SC Part 2
OK, here's what I was told. The boxcar between the two locomotives is for weight distribution. This train makes a side trip to Shelby, NC every day. Some of the bridges on the Shelby line can't support the weight of 2 gp's so they put some of the power equipment in that ex-Central of Georgia boxcar to spread out the weight. You can see they're running cab-backwards like the old Southern days. And about that horn...what do you guys think it sounds like...a wounded moose crying out in pain or ...

...when you think of Florida, images of palm trees, sunshine, Miami, and 80s pastels come to mind. However, the Seaboard Air Line was one of the major railroads servicing it for the first half of the century. Is its style still there in Microsoft Train Simulator, or is it out of date?

NS 214 Running Late in Kings Mountain NC 4-10-08
Running late because of the semi that got stuck at the Oak St. crossing. Everybody ran late that day, including 213 by a couple of hours. Here, I was near milepost 410 after shooting video of the stuck truck near milepost 411. mow was working on track 1. You can see 214 come up and around them on track 2.
NS 222 - and what to do while waiting on it 7-25-07
222 eventually gets here with NS 9105 in the lead taking track 1. How many things can you do while waiting for a train? (besides the guy who made a video of himself breaking beer bottles)
