Rep. Monique Davis - Atheist-Hater

Title:
Rep. Monique Davis - Atheist-Hater

Description:
Keith Olbermann commentary, my commentary and some atheist bashing by Rep. Monique Davis for dessert. To Jack Franks from Rob Sherman: I request that the Committee or the House censure Rep. Davis for her abusive and irrational remarks towards me. She has embarrassed the Illinois House of Representative to the rest of the State and, quite literally, to the entire world by making the institution look like it's a bunch of religious fanatic right-wing wackos. News of her remarks are literally circulating around the world in newspapers and on numerous web sites, which I can provide you links to. Illinois does not need this kind of embarrassment. It could be bad for tourism. I ask that the House or your Committee dis-associate yourselves from her remarks with a censor that says that her remarks were inappropriate, do not reflect the sentiments of the institution nor of the People of Illinois, and with an apology to me. Her remarks are more befitting a legislature in Iran, not one in America. I've gone to bat for you on the million dollar Pilgrim Baptist fiasco. Is there anything that is doable regarding Davis' comments that you can initiate or sponsor? It's as if Rep. Davis spells "Illinois" with only four letters: I-R-A-N. -Rob Sherman It's a good thing Rep. Davis was bashing atheists and not another religion, otherwise she would be out of a job. We have some work to do before we can restore our religious freedom (i.e. seperation of church and state). And I would hope that all people of all faiths would denounce this type of bigotry, because with representatives who think this way, it isn't long before we have a theocracy. By then, it will be too late to preserve our freedom of religion. On 9 April '08 Rep. Davis privately apologized to Rob Sherman for her attack against him and atheism in general. Logical Disconnect
Christian creationists can't seem to notice the holes in their logic. It's kind of like when you have BO, and you can't smell it, but everyone else does. Hint: The "order in the universe" argument only works if you don't believe in miracles.
Creationist Ego
There must be an all-powerful force preventing creationists from allowing pesky facts to colour their world view. Ego?
Representative Monique D. Davis (D) - Bias against atheists
Illinois State Legislator Monique Davis launched an attack on atheism, calling it "dangerous for our children". She was confronting well-known atheist Rob Sherman Wednesday afternoon 2 April 2008 in the General Assembly as Sherman testified before the House State Government Administration regarding Gov. Rod Blagojevich's oddly misdirected $1 million grant intended for Pilgrim Baptist Church. Sherman told reporters afterwards he "felt like Rosa Parks". Sources: -------- Chicago Tribune: blogs ...

Evolution of Christianity - Defense Mechanisms
While debating with theists, I've come across familiar defense mechanisms built right into the doctrine. Designed to prevent critical analysis or to confuse the believer into dismissing opposing arguments, they've stood up as truly dynamic mechanisms. Awe-inspiring, even. Here are a few that I've been thinking about. If you have any to add I'd be grateful.
