Freight action at Acton Bridge (16th June 2009)
Description:
A day's outing to Acton Bridge on Tuesday 16th June 2009, produced some good freight action, and also some interesting light engine movements. This video includes some of the various enterprise and intermodal trains passing in both Northern and Southern directions. Here is a guide to what trains ran (in order of appearance): 1) DRS 66427 on containers to Daventry 2) Freightliner 66594 NYK Spirit of Kyoto running light engine towards Crewe 3) DB Schenker 66152 heading towards Warrington Arpley (then returning South with 66188 in tow) 4) DB Schenker 66126 on the Runcorn to Warrington Arpley chemical tanks (returning later after running round at Northwich, and clagging to boot!) 5) Freightliner 66955 on a liner to Crewe Basford Hall 6) Freightliner 66624 hauling empty Network Rail Ballast Boxes to Mountsorrel 7) DB Schenker 'Royal' 67005 The Queens Messenger working the Dowlow to Warrington Arpley Lime tank working 8) DRS 66433 heading North on an modal working to Coatbridge 9) DB Schenker 90020 Collingwood and National Express East Anglia 90004 heading light engine to Garston (catch of the day!) 10) DRS 66425 heading South on a modal working to Daventry (Apologies for this clip being repeated - this was down to me making the mistake of using the same clip twice during editing) 11) Freightliner 86501 and 90040 heading North light engine 12) NXEA 90004 and DB Schenker 90020 Collingwood heading South on an empty car train to Dagenham.  | Stockport-Stalybridge 1989 Views forward from a Birmingham RCW dmu (set number N673) in April 1989, the last year in which a full daily service operated between Stockport and Stalybridge, advertised as the "Pennine Connector". By May 1990, only 3 trains a day ran in this direction and 2 in the reverse. The video has been heavily edited to fit within the youtube time limit (sorry) - the actual journey time was 21 minutes. |
