Florida Sandhill Cranes with Chicks

Title:
Florida Sandhill Cranes with Chicks

Description:
I stopped on the side of the road while traveling down the Amtrak line between Orlando and St. Cloud to try to get a good picture of the full moon over the cypress and pine with my new camera that will actually zoom. the moon may loom large over the horizon to the naked eye, but when trying to capture with a point and shoot, it always ends up as a little dot in the pic. so i wanted to try my 6x zoom and see what happened. I didn't get the picture of the moon, but when I was on the side of the road, I saw a sandhill crane in the wet part of the field. I walked over and noticed the head of its mate sticking up out of the grass. I thought it unusual and wondered if it were trying to lay eggs or something. When I approached, it stood to expose its newborn baby chicks. The other crane was busy building the nest in the watery grass. I could have gone closer, but they looked threatened, and I didn't want to upset them.
