Guemes Island workshop glimpses

Title:
Guemes Island workshop glimpses

Description:
Homebrew windpower workshop in Washington USA 13-19 April 2009. A bit random since I was really more focussed on teaching than on shooting video. 3 turbines, 14, 10 and 6 feet in diameter. All completed and tested. Sorry if I did not manage to show everyone who participated. Thanks to Dan, Scott, Ian, Andy, Jason, Win, Doug, Michael.

Assembly and test of a 3 metre turbine at Scoraig in June
We built a ten foot (3 metres) 24-volt turbine with a smallish group. This is the tenth workshop to be held at Shanti Griha at Scoraig. Thanks to William and Cathy for hosting the workshop activities, and having the windmill erected next to theirs. By the way, this was a temporary erection and should not be used as a model for a permanent install.

Listeroid 6/1 diesel with homebrew axial flux alternator
Our 6 horsepower diesel backup generator charging a 48V battery bank at 2kw output with a home brew axial flux alternator. It's a very efficient system with many advantages over charging with a belt driven 5kw generator head through an inverter/charger(which is how we used to do things).

This is the turbine we built here in May see www.scoraigwind.com It has 2 magnet rotors instead of using one magnet rotor with a plain disk on the outside. Air gap is large. Blades are coated with linseed oil as is tail vane. thanks to Lawrence Glass.
