Title:
Happy Independence Day, Mexico!!
Description:
This is a video I made also for my first YouTube account, at some point in the last couple of years, in honor of my other country, Mexico. I'm posting it here and now to celebrate the upcoming anniversary of Mexican independence from Spain, which was proclaimed on September 16th, 1810. My father was from Mexico, and I spent a significant portion of my childhood and young adulthood there with him. I had the opportunity to travel extensively around the country, and to share in the richness of its culture and the warmth of its people. Mexico is a country that has all the resources it needs in order to become the major regional power that it should already be. After 71 years under the rule of a single political party and a semi-socialist system, Mexico elected Vicente Fox as President, a Center-Right candidate from the National Action Party, (PAN), which had always been in opposition. That led to an opening of the economy and the markets to foreign investment, and to a general liberalization of Mexican society. In 2006, Mexicans narrowly elected Felipe Calderon to the Presidency, furthering the gains achieved by the National Action Party in its quest for a strengthening of the free market system in Mexico. President Calderon has also taken substantial actions regarding Mexico's national security that make him the first modern Mexican President to truly take a stand against organized crime in order to protect the rule of law. The Mexican people and their leaders still have many issues they must solve, and many flaws to surmount, but I am confident that they will do so eventually, and that they will take their country to the heights it has every possibility of reaching. It is my pleasure and privilege to dedicate this video I made for them in the eve of their Independence Day. The musical piece is called "Huapango de Moncayo", and it is one of the most beloved Mexican musical compositions next to the Mexican National Anthem. The images depict the many different views and places that the country offers, and also a little bit of its history. As always, any ignorant, prejudiced, ill-intentioned comments will be deleted immediately, and the writer will be blocked. Thank you for watching! -----------------------------
