A frequent boat shuttle takes guests to the nearby barrier beach which is part of the incomparable Cape Cod National Seashore. Special excursions show kids how to pull up lobster traps and in the summer season the sandbake/clambake is a process that culminates in quite a spread. The beachfront and pool are across the street from the main inn and cottages, so it's a bit of a trek to get back to your room. Tons of money has been poured into the historic resort and new additions include spa suites, where you don't have to leave your room for some pampering. After Labor Day, the crowds diminish and rates level out, especially now that they have a promotion that offers rooms for as low as $199 a night on select dates before Columbus Day.
